Insights Discovery - The year in review
Insights Discovery provides teams with a brilliant and sticky shared language for behaviour.
Working with a team this week, I was reminded how impactful Insights can also be in driving reflection - in a balanced way.
With the year about to hop and skip right out of our sights - now is the time to pause and reflect.
Here’s how to make sure you’re reflecting with each of the four colours in mind.
Instead of the usual "what went well, what didn't" template, try looking back at 2025 through each of the four colour energies.
If you’re like most teams - you’ll tend to be less focused on one or more of the colour energies - and the process helps you to more holistically assess and celebrate the year.
As a team - discuss each of the below:
COOL BLUE: Working Methods & Measurement: How well did we get work done? What processes were effective, and which ones created friction or confusion? Where did systems support us, and where did they slow us down? Are we measuring success? If not, why not? How easy are the measures to understand and act upon?
SUNSHINE YELLOW: Collaboration & Agility: Where did creativity show up? What new thinking emerged? Which experiments paid off, and which never got going? Who did we collaborate with? Where did we miss an opportunity to expand our horizons?
EARTH GREEN: Trust & Cohesion: How connected did we feel? When did collaboration click? Where were relationships strong, and where did they fray? How did we provide support to one another? How did we build trust with clients / customers / colleagues? Where did we miss the mark?
Results Orientation & Shared Purpose: What did we actually achieve? Did we maintain a results orientation? Which goals did we hit, and which ones did we miss? What got delivered, and what got dropped? Did we have a shared sense of purpose - was it meaningful?
How to run the review:
Give everyone 10 minutes per area to reflect — encourage them to capture both the good and the bad. Share back as a team and look for patterns.
Then ask the question that matters: Based on what we've learned, what habits & ways of working need to change to make 2026 even better?
That’s it - simple, but effective - my favourite.
Let me know how it goes!
