3 signs your off site was a waste of time and money
Here are the 3 signs your offsite was better off never happening:
The agenda was all-bizz
You packed the agenda with business updates, systems reviews and planning discussion. You have a feeling you may have bored the team to tears - as confirmed by the amount of barely concealed multi-tasking and toilet breaks. If you didn’t include opportunities to co-create, learn together and connect on a human level - I’m sorry to say, the agenda was a bust.
Death by PPT
Despite being in the same room - a momentous occasion for most teams - you STILL spent the vast majority of the time together staring at a screen. If you didn’t have folks collaborating, debating, discussing - or best of all, getting out into natural light together - you missed the mark.
You didn’t do anything memorable
Dinner is great - and necessary. However, no one will remember the scallops in 2 weeks. What they will remember is if you can create a moment that brings the group together. Experiences forge connection. I can strongly recommend improv - if you can’t afford to bring everyone out on choppers.
Well? How did you do?
